Porsche 991.1 GT3 Club Sport (2013/63)
SOLD
In 1999 and on the back of a wave of motorsport success, Porsche decided to reintroduce a 911 GT car to the market. The “GT” nomenclature (which had last been seen on the prior generation 993 GT2) was in essence a road car built as close to the Porsche GT race cars of the time as possible without having to sacrifice too much in the way of driver comfort, usability and road legality. More importantly, the 996 GT3 was Porsche’s first attempt to reach a relatively broader mass market than the 993 GT2 of which only 57 road cars were built to meet homologation requirements.
The 996 GT3 spawned a legacy of incredible fast road and track cars to sport the GT3 badge. All the way through the 997 and 991 GT3 variants including the more track focused GT3 RS versions, the common characteristics shared between all of these cars has been their incredible driver focused setup, mind blowing handling and monumentally impressive high revving naturally aspirated flat six engines coupled with the Germanic build quality and reliability that Porsche has become world renowned for.
At the Geneva Motorshow in 2013, Porsche released the latest 911 to wear the GT3 badge, the 991. In many ways a hugely important car for the manufacturer as it ushered in the new age of digital following the relatively analogue previous generation 996 and 997 cars. That said, not only was the 991 GT3 successful in achieving this but it also managed to maintained all of the key characteristics which have made and continue to make the GT3 such a legendary driving machine.

INVESTMENT THESIS
This incredible specification white 991.1 GT3 Club Sport is a rare 1 owner car with full service history and extended Porsche warranty. First registered in December 2013, no expense was spared on the spec of this car with PCCB, Sports Bucket Seats, Carbon Interior Package and Chrono Package Plus to name just a few of the options included. What’s more, with just under 3,500 miles from new and having always been garaged, the car remains in pristine condition for its next owner.
It doesn’t take long behind the wheel of the 991 GT3 to realise you are in the presence of a monumentally capable piece of machinery. However, without a question of a doubt, the two characteristics which set it apart from any other car on the road today are its turn in ability and that momentous engine. Thanks to the introduction of rear wheel steering for the 991 GT3, the car has an even more insatiable appetite to turn in and find the apex of a corner. Whats more, coupled with the huge levels of front end grip, it really inspires confidence in the driver to commit to the corner. And then there is the engine. A completely new 3.8 litre flat six unit which was developed for the 991 GT3. Like the Mezger engines which came before, this new 3.8 litre motor is no less hungry to use the rev range and the linear power deliver only gets more intense as you scream towards the redline. Another corker of a naturally aspirated Porsche Flat Six that rewards the driver whom makes it work.
As an investment; the purists will be quick to point out that without a manual gearbox or the race derived Mezger engine, the 991 GT3 lacks the pedigree of previous generation cars. We take a different view. The step up in performance capabilities from 997 to 991 GT3 means that the monumentally capable PDK gearbox is a more than welcomed addition to handle the heightened pace that the engine and chassis are capable of now. This really comes to rest on a track where the old 6 speed manual box simply can’t compete with the PDK unit. What’s more, with over 2 years Porsche warranty available for this car, you need not worry about truly enjoying and using it on a daily basis. We personally believe prices for 991.1 GT3s are at or close to their floor and would be surprised to see any meaningful depreciation from the current price context. This is further supported when you factor in the shift by Porsche from naturally aspirated to turbo charged units in their common rail cars moving forward. This pristine example could therefore be a great addition for the collector and investor who also likes to use the car on a regular basis.
