In 2009 and after a hiatus of nearly 10 years, McLaren returned to the market with the launch of their first production road car since the F1, the MP4-12C. Inspired by its predecessor, the 12C’s foundation was based around a familiar carbon fibre MonoCell tub however this time coupled to a 3.8 litre twin turbocharged V8 powertrain manufactured by Ricardo.
With design for the project headed by Frank Stephenson, a clear objective was to create a light and agile supercar with performance that not only transcended the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini but also re-established expectations for ride quality. Utilising an innovative new suspension system developed by McLaren and referred to as ProActive Chassis Control, the 12C had a game changing ability to absorb and compress bumps without sacrificing any structural rigidity……. Luxury saloon ride quality with racetrack performance.
In the end, the MP4-12C re-invigorated McLaren as a production road car business and from its award winning McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, would commence the start of new era for McLaren.

INVESTMENT THESIS
Supplied new by McLaren Dubai and first registered in March 2012, LHD chassis number 830 was a highly specified example finished in McLaren Orange and featuring sport exhaust, electrically adjustable and heated seats, parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, lithium-ion battery charger, fire extinguisher and car cover. In addition, a host of options were fitted including carbon fibre interior, lightweight forged wheels, Stealth Pack and Meridian infotainment system.
The car subsequently benefitted from the MY 2013 factory upgrade which saw power increased by 25PS to 625PS, new software for the 7-speed SSG transmission, programable intake sound generator (ISG), radio and antenna updates, Bluetooth telephone, easy exit electric seat functionality, new audio equaliser and IRIS satellite navigation.
In 2015, the car was imported into the UK by its original owner where it has resided ever since. Now UK registered with 0 former owners on the V5 and sporting just 434 miles on the odometer with McLaren service history and all original books/tools, this truly is a time warp example of possibly one of the most significant modern McLarens. It ushered in the rebirth of the brand synonymous with motor racing and a new era for their production road cars.
