At the 2015 Geneva Motorshow, McLaren released their flagship model of the Super Series range and only the second McLaren ever to sport the prestigious nomenclature at the end of its name, the 675LT. Based on the 650S, McLaren went to town utilising as much transferable mechanical and technological knowhow from the sensational P1 to create a faster and more track focused version.

Completely redesigning over half of the M838 TL twin-turbo V8 engine including new connecting rods, camshafts and turbos as well as utilising electric waste gates combined with high power fuel pumps and a titanium exhaust, McLaren quickly set out to highlight that the new LT was much more than a surface deep marketing attempt preying on the success of the legendary Mclaren F1 “Long Tail” GT race cars of the 90s. The 650S body was also given an extensive overhaul with 100kg in weight saving achieved through the extensive use of carbon fibre body parts and lighter weight components for the wheels, suspension, seats and windows.  Downforce was also increased by 40% over the 650S.

The end result was a cataclysmically capable supercar on both road and track. A baby P1 to rival the Ferrari 458 Speciale. Following the limited run of 500 Coupe models, at the end of 2015, 500 Spider models were also commissioned.
