In 2003 Lamborghini unveiled its second car under VAG ownership, the Gallardo. Powered by a spine tingling natural aspirated 5 litre V10 coupled to all wheel drive system, the Gallardo would end up being a best seller for the company with just over 14k cars built across its 10 year production run from 2003 to 2013.
In 2008, a significantly updated Gallardo was released at the Geneva Motor Show. Referred to as the LP560-4, the revised car featured a new 5.2 litre V10 producing 40 PS more than its predecessor and benefitting from direct fuel injection, it also achieved improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. While still available with 2 gearbox options, a 6-speed manual and automated manual E-gear, the later had been revised for better durability as well as a new Corsa mode for even faster gear changes and decreased traction control restrictions.
To accompany the mechanical enhancements, the LP560-4 also gained a host of styling tweaks including new front and rear lighter and bumpers.
Finally a supercar with all the emotion and theatre we had come to love from an Italian manufacturers but now mated with the reliability and usability adorned to its new German owner. A true 365 day of the year supercar.
