In October 2000 at the Geneva Motorshow, BMW released the 3rd generation of their now iconic M3. Based on the E46 3 Series, the latest M3 was powered by the legendary 3.2 litre straight-six BMW S54 engine which was available with both manual and SMG (automated manual) gearbox options.

To this day, the E46 M3 has remained an extremely successful combination of pliable and dynamic chassis coupled with a brilliant powertrain. The S54 engine is a joy to drive from low revs all the way though to its zingy, metallic edged red line while the chassis provides great feedback and connectivity which inspires driver confidence.

As modern BMW M-cars have gained in weight and size, the E46 M3 harks back to a beautifully analogue time in the early noughties and as a result has seen its following in recent years skyrocket. Still to this day does it remain an extremely capable sportscar.
