In the mid 90s, a joint venture of Audi and Porsche engineers came together to create the Audi RS2, the world’s first high performance estate car. Based on an Audi 80 Avant, the chassis and engine were heavily re-engineered including Porsche suspension and brake components as well as larger turbo, intercooler, injectors and modified camshaft. The resulting car pioneered a new age of automotive design with customers no longer having to compromise between performance and practicality.
Unveiled in February 2005 at Audi's 'Quattro Night' celebration at their headquarters in Germany, the B7 RS4 was the latest variation of the iconic super estate to come out of Ingolstadt following a short hiatus after the B5 RS4 production ended. Utilising their scintillating naturally aspirated 4.2L V8 engine coupled to the industry leading Quattro 4WD system and Getrag manual gearbox, the B7 RS4 was a perfect combination of performance and practicality and unsurprisingly an instant hit with all that drove it.
