Audi R8 V10 Coupe (2010/10)
SOLD
In 2003, Audi showcased the Le Mans Quattro concept at the Frankfurt Motorshow. Pitched as a celebration of 3 back to back wins at Le Mans for the R8 race car through 2000-2002, the concept provided the perfect platform for Audi to showcase the synergies developed from the recent acquisition of Lamborghini by the VW group as well as testing client appetite for an Audi supercar.
Unsurprisingly, feedback was positive and in 2006, the Audi R8 launched. Initially powered by the same 4.2 litre V8 as the infamous B7 RS4, the range was later expanded to include a 5.2 litre V10 variant borrowed from its new stablemate, the Lamborghini Gallardo.
The car was a resounding success. Finally, an everyday supercar to take the fight to Porsche and the 911 Turbo. Timing of the cars birth was less pertinent however with the world stumbling into a global recession just as the first V8 customer deliveries were being made. That said, in 2009 if you had a spare £100k to throw at a supercar, you need look no further than the mighty R8 V10.

INVESTMENT THESIS
First registered in May 2010, this stunning Sepang Blue manual Audi R8 V10 Coupe has covered just 16,300 miles from new. Finished with timeless Oxygen Silver Sideblades and Pale Grey leather interior, this 2 owner car has just returned to us from a major service at Audi including sparkplugs. The car has been exclusively serviced with Audi main dealers throughout its life and benefits from a mountain of paperwork and invoices confirming its provenance.
Initially supplied by Exeter Audi with an OTR price of £91,918.00, this particular example benefits from Audi Parking System Plus, Cruise Control and Bluetooth interface along with a host of options fitted as standard to the first generation V10 cars including Magnetic Ride Suspension and Bang & Olufsen sound system.
In a similar vein to the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Audi R8 V10 was one of the last analogue bastions for manual, large capacity and naturally aspirated supercars ever to be produced. The 5.2 litre 10 cylinder engine coupled to the versatile Audi Quattro system creates a monumentally impressive and usable everyday supercar package. What’s more, being an Audi as opposed to a Lamborghini makes maintenance and servicing costs a lot more palatable.
As soon as you fire up the big V10 you feel in the presence of something special. The steering and clutch at slow speeds are refreshingly weighted and purposeful but still remarkably usable for city/town driving. But get out of town and onto the country roads is where you truly realise how capable this car is. Once over 3,000rpm, the engine note comes alive as exhaust valves open and you get the full fat sound that only a V10 can produce. The car pulls beautifully and gear changes are seamless through the gated box. For a big motor, it wants to rev and indulging it to the 8700rpm red line only highlights what a mind blowing engine this is.
